This afternoon, and probably most of this evening, I'm back to being a code monkey. Honestly, it feels good! I've "lost" too much time doing administrative tasks, and plunging back into code has done me a lot of good. I've been coding like mad on busses, trains, and anywhere else I've been able to. One possible future employer asked me to do a little task for him, create a small application to show him what I'm capable of. Excellent idea, I love it! It's just a shame that I didn't have the time to do it... It was off to a bad start anyway, the very first time he called me, I was a witness to a car crash, and I was the only medically trained person there. How do you let a maybe future employer know that you can't talk right now, and at the same time try to keep a young girl from fainting? Hard, but I think he took it well! Anyway, time to code code code this evening to get the application up and running. And Ubuntu uploading buggy dev packages that killed my Gnome desktop don't help. So now I have to explain that I didn't have 2 weeks to do his program for a) Accidents, b) French Administration, c) Yet more French Administration, and d) other job hunts. Anyway, many thanks to PA for the idea, it's been fun doing it, it still is fun, and finally someone who is actually interested in what the person can do, not just what is written on his CV.
Reming me, how do I set up a GTK List that plugs into a GTK Icon View?
